David Dunnett

Organist and Master of the Choristers, Norwich Cathedral

David Dunnett was educated at King Edward’s School, Birmingham where he was an organ pupil of John Pryer. He was Subsequently Organ Scholar of Clare College, Cambridge assisting Tim Brown and studying the organ with David Sanger. He continued with David Sanger at the Royal Academy of Music and also spent a year as Organist of Marylebone Parish Church. After time working in America and as Assistant Director of Music at Uppingham School, he spent four years as Sub-Organist at Winchester Cathedral undertaking numerous concerts, broadcasts, recordings and tours to Brazil, USA and Australia. He assisted David Hill with the Waynflete Singers, taught at Southampton University and is a previous conductor of the Southampton University Chamber Choir and the Winchester Music Club. He is a regular recitalist and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists on the organ, harpsichord and piano. He became Organist and Master of the Music at Norwich Cathedral in January 1996. This year, after nearly twelve years in this post, he returned to the organ loft to spend more time playing and is now Organist of Norwich Cathedral, working alongside a new master of music, David Lowe. He is also busy as a teacher and examiner and is the Choral Conductor of the Norwich Philharmonic Society. He is married with two sons and his interests include sport and aircraft.

The Friends of the Alexandra Palace Organ Appeal will be providing opportunities to check the addresses of all Friends and to take the names of all those who wish to join.
